Nintendo Co. racked up an operating loss in the fiscal first half on weak sales of its Wii U videogame consoles, stepping up pressure for a major overhaul in strategy.
The world’s biggest videogame company said Wednesday it posted an operating loss of 23.28 billion ($237 million) for April-September period, putting its target of 100 billion for the 12 months ending March 2014 even further out of reach. That was narrower than the 29.16 billion loss it reported in the same period a year earlier, and the firm generated a 600 million net profit during the period.
